Basic Needs Collection
Basic Needs Collection
The Basic Needs Collection aids Project H.O.M.E. in its work with homeless and low-income people in Philadelphia to “empower persons to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.” St. Andrew’s Parish collects a variety of basic household items, personal care products, school supplies, cleaning supplies and more for distribution to the poor and needy on a monthly basis.
Parishioners are asked to remember the less fortunate among us while shopping at supermarkets and discount retailers (Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart) and include one or more of the particular monthly collection items in their purchases. Reminders of collection dates and items are published in the Sunday Church Bulletin. We ask parishioners to bring their donation items to the Church on the first weekend of each month.
In addition, the collection of larger items such as dishes, flatware, linens, small appliances or bottled water can be arranged at any time.
